Barn weddings are always a popular choice for couples looking for a large, distinctive space that can host a wedding from ceremony through to the last dance. And of the many beautiful barn-style venues that Cheshire and the North West have to offer, there’s something special about Grange Barn in Whitchurch that makes it a total pleasure for any wedding photographer to shoot.
As well as ticking all the important boxes on any soon-to-be-married couple’s wish list, Grange Barn offers something truly unique, with its rustic, relaxed atmosphere providing a welcoming ambience and a neutral yet stylish backdrop to compliment any wedding style. Family-run and with only one wedding per weekend, couples can really take time to put their personal stamp on the venue, and we have had the pleasure of seeing it transformed into many different and equally beautiful wedding days; each of which has delivered stunning wedding photographs that we are proud and excited to send to our clients.
With wedding photography in mind, the venue is a real treat to shoot, with so many different settings, diverse textures and lighting options to give your wedding album plenty of depth and variety. Ceremonies can take place within the barn itself, with natural drapes separating the rustic aisle from a large reception area, which is lined with informal trestle tables for a sociable wedding breakfast. These billowing drapes also provide another unusual background for photos, and this works particularly well for romantic headshots of the bride and groom straight after the ceremony.
For summer weddings, the barn has the added benefit of a large decking area with spectacular views, where alfresco vows present more amazing photo opportunities. Set in acres of countryside, Grange barn offers multiple locations for stunning outdoor photos, from the endless cornfields for a private moment as newlyweds, to the wooden barn exterior which is a lovely urban backdrop for less traditional group shots of the bridal party; and a personal favourite spot of mine to capture the all-important confetti shot!
The old-meets-new styling of the venue is enhanced with its stunning glass frontage, which frames the top table for toasts (hello gorgeous natural light!). And as a bonus, the expansive ceilings of this modern barn are already adorned with strings of golden fairy lights, creating a romantic atmosphere and a twinkly glow to set-off your wedding gallery.
As we love this venue so much, it was such an honour to see ‘Love My Dress’ featuring the incredibly stylish wedding of Kerstin and Gerry, which I had the pleasure of capturing. Grange Barn’s pared-back setting perfectly complimented the couple’s chic aesthetic, with Kerstin wearing a sleek silk gown by Stephanie Allin, switching between two stunning capes for a modern take on bridal wear. Her look was finished with gold crystal Jimmy Choos and statement floral drop earrings by Pollen & Plume. I joined the bridal party whilst they got ready on the morning of the wedding at Cheshire Boutique Barns, where I was able to capture close-ups of these gorgeous personal details that added so much style and flair to Kerstin and Gerry’s special day.
It’s always such a lovely experience photographing weddings at Grange Barn, and a delight to see how each couple transforms the space with their own unique vision. No matter what the style, this fantastic venue is always sure to deliver opportunities for a huge range of wedding photos, which I just know my clients will love.
